Mai Dhai performing at SXSW 2015 Austin, Texas

The U.S. Department of State, in cooperation with the Foundation for Arts, Culture and Education "FACE" sponsored 6 Pakistani bands to strengthen connection between United States and Pakistan through a week of performances at the 2015 South by Southwest (SXSW) Music Festival in Austin, Texas.
MaiDhai is a traditional Manganiyar singer and dhol (Punjabi drum) player from the Thar Desert region. The Manganiyars are a caste of Muslim musicians who traditionally performed for the kings of Rajasthan in the Subcontinent. While in U.S. for the first time in her life, She performed at Driskill, Russian House, International Day Stage, Mother Falcon, Swolen Circus, Union Theater University of Texas, Elebash Hall NYC and various other occasions arranged by the Pakistani Community in Austin, Texas.
